Flood Alert, Residents Organize Voluntary Labor

Intense rainfall in Yogyakarta area, has kept the residents in the vicinity of code river flood plain on alert. To anticipate follow-up flood and diseases that frequently appear during rainy season, residents of code river flood plain,  in sunday morning,  organized a voluntary labor of sand dredging. 

As a form of alertness against follow-up flood,  as well as the possibility of the emergence of disease,  the residents organized a voluntary labor activity on their own.  The voluntary labor was participated by residents from two Kelurahan, which were tegal Panggung and Suryatmajan, Danurejan Subdistrict, and included sand dredging and heightening of embankment. although financed by own funds from the residents in the vicinity, most residents of the two Kelurahan, looked high-spirited to secure their area from the possibility of bigger follow-up flood.

Although having to sleep in alertness,  code residents’ spirit to defend their environs made the government to support the activity, by facilitating cement support, as well as allocating supporting manpower from army and fkppi.  Along with the collaboration, the government also extend the emergency alert period, as well as monitor, and supervise theprogram implemented by people.  To guarantee health, commission d of Yogyakarta city regional house of representatives, takes part in monitoring the condition of the water channel, and the water used by code river flood plain residents so as to not cause new problem.
